Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Water and Environment, Engineer Abdulraqib Abdulrahman Al Sharmani, the Local Conference of Youth on Climate Change kicked off in Sana'a, with the participation of more than 200 young men and women from various governorates of the Republic.
In his opening speech, His Excellency Minister Al Sharmani stressed the importance of climate and environmental issues and the need for them to top the state's agenda, pointing out that poor countries are the most vulnerable to the repercussions of climate change. He also stressed the need for the conference to come out with actionable recommendations and action plans to follow up on them on the ground.
The conference activities, which will continue for several days, included discussions on climate justice concepts and the road to COP28, as well as discussions on the commitments of major countries to address climate change and support developing countries.
